Pennsylvania Hunter Shoots Elderly Neighbor He Mistook for a Deer

A hunter in Pennsylvania was charged Friday for firing at an elderly neighbor who he mistook for a deer. In December, Michael Lloyd, 40, of Boalsburg, was allegedly returning home from a hunting trip when he believed he spotted an ungulate for the taking. According to an affidavit by the State College police and the Pennsylvania Game Commission, Lloyd withdrew his .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun, fired at least twice, then began searching for the fallen game. Investigators claim he instead discovered his 81-year-old neighbor lying in his driveway with a head wound. The injured man was airlifted to a hospital and had surgery to remove some of his skull. His injuries are not life-threatening. Lloyd was charged with five hunting violations and misdemeanors for reckless endangerment, injuring a human, and “propulsion of missiles onto a roadway.”

9-Year-Old Accidentally Shoots Stepbrother in Chipotle Parking Lot

A tragic shooting unfolded Sunday afternoon in Snellville, Georgia, when a 9-year-old accidentally opened fire on his 8-year-old stepbrother in a Chipotle parking lot. According to the Snellville Police Department, the two children had been left alone in the car while their mother went to retrieve food from the Mexican grill. As reported by WSB-TV 2, Chipotle employee Johanna Cervantes said, “Some kids came in and they were screaming that someone shot him. You could see the visible gunshot wound coming out from his ear.” The boys’ mother applied pressure to the wound with a towel while the employees called the police. The boy remained conscious throughout the ordeal and was rushed to a hospital.

Lawmakers Investigate Biden Admin Over Database Containing One Billion Gun Sale Records
ATF will 'sweep up records of every gun sale in America,’ GOP lawmakers warn

A coalition of Republican lawmakers is investigating the Biden administration over its stockpiling of nearly one billion records detailing Americans’ firearm purchases, according to a copy of the investigation that accuses the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) of planning to "sweep up records of every gun sale in America."

The probe, spearheaded by Rep. Michael Cloud (R., Texas) and backed by 35 of his colleagues, comes on the heels of a Washington Free Beacon report detailing how the ATF maintains a database of 920,664,765 firearm purchase records—far more than has previously been publicly disclosed. The massive number of records, most of which are digitized in a searchable database, sparked concerns the Biden administration is violating federal laws that bar the government from maintaining a national gun registry.

Now the lawmakers are demanding the ATF come clean about how it is using the database, which the agency claims is primarily used to track guns used in crimes. The ATF also says, however, that the firearm database is often not useful in helping to prosecute gun crimes, fueling concerns the Biden administration’s goal is to track legal gun owners. The lawmakers say their fears are compounded by the administration’s bid to overhaul current gun laws to ensure the records of every licensed firearm dealer in the country ultimately make their way into the federal government’s hands.

Cloud and his colleagues say this change to the law—which would mandate that gun stores keep their records in perpetuity instead of 20 years, as is currently permitted—constitutes a massive federal overreach.

Hmp...13 States and 2 Countries joining Mexico in a lawsuit against gun Manufactures.....The lawsuit's defendants include gun manufacturers Smith & Wesson, Barret, Beretta, Colt, Glock, Sturm and Ruger & Co.

The PLCAA is a 2005 law designed to protect arms manufacturers and dealers from lawsuits when their products are used to commit crimes. The law has exceptions that allow such lawsuits if dealers and manufacturers can reasonably know their products will be used for a crime.

The Mexican government argues dealers and manufacturers are marketing products specifically intending to violate local gun laws in the country.

    Good luck mother fuckers.

Man Trying to Shoot Bear Accidentally Kills Brother, Then Takes His Own Life

An Oregon man fetched his gun to defend himself against a black bear near his home earlier this week, but he accidentally fatally shot his brother instead—and then took his own life after realizing what he’d done. The tragedy unfolded Tuesday at a rural home in Sunny Valley, Josephine County Undersheriff Travis Snyder said Wednesday, according to The Oregonian. Police were dispatched to the area after a 911 call from a man who said he’d “accidentally shot his brother while loading a gun” to use against a bear. By the time they arrived, the 911 caller was already dead of a gunshot wound, and a second man was also found deceased with a gunshot wound, police said. An investigation is ongoing into the incident, and the two men have not yet been identified.

This came as a shock to me at least. And it could be the crack that bursts the dam protecting gun makers. And the size of the settlement is insignificant compared to making Remington hand over their internal communications. That is exactly the same thing that brought cigarette makers to their knees.

Sandy Hook families, Remington reach $73M settlement

Gunmaker Remington Arms Co. and the families of the victims from the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting have reached a historic settlement, according to court documents.

Court documents did not provide a specific monetary amount of the settlement, but The Associated Press reported that the agreement's price tag amounted to $73 million.

The development follows a years-long lawsuit against the gun manufacturer, which created the rifle used by 20-year-old Adam Lanza during the school shooting, which left six teachers and 20 children dead.

"The plaintiffs request that the Court set a status conference, to be held at a date convenient to the Court and counsel for the parties so that the parties may further report on the settlement, including what must be accomplished before the case can be withdrawn," the court filing reads. "The plaintiffs further request that all scheduling deadlines be suspended. The Remington defendants join in these requests."

Families of the victims who died during the deadly shooting in Newtown, Conn., alleged that the gun used during the shooting, an AR-15–style Bushmaster rifle, was marketed as a war weapon and claim that the gun manufacturer is partly responsible for the shooting.

The lawsuit against Remington, which filed for bankruptcy in 2020, was cleared by a Connecticut court to move forward in March 2019.

Later that year, the Supreme Court declined to take up an appeal from Remington over the families' lawsuit after the gun manufacturer pointed to a 2005 law that shields gunmakers from responsibility when their weapons are used during criminal acts.

Since then, the lawsuit against the gun manufacturer has been characterized by several unusual twists and turns on the part of Remington, which last year submitted an odd batch of GIFs, video files and cartoons. At one point, Remington's lawyers also requested school records from five children who died following the shooting.

The Hill has reached out to Remington's lawyers and attorneys representing the families for comment.

I just read this news over here in Aus! So very pleased, and hope their appeals fall on deaf ears.

Maybe as you say - this may burst the bubble of gun culture currently existing in America. I know it will be a long road of decades, not overnight, but it's absolutely a move in the right direction.

There is no appeal for this one because they settled without going to court. And you over there are very astute. This one is huge because its one already bankrupt gun maker that settled and agreed to cooperate handing over their internal memes from their insurance company. That might put other gun makers in jeopardy.

9-year-old Houston girl dies after being shot by robbery victim: police

A 9-year-old girl in Houston, Texas, died on Tuesday after being shot in the head by a robbery victim who believed he was shooting at the person who had robbed him.

As KTRK reported, Arlene Alvarez was shot in the head while her family was driving by a hold-up at an ATM at a Chase bank location on Monday night.

According to the police, a man went up to a couple — a man and a woman — who were at the ATM in their vehicle and robbed them at gunpoint. The man got out of his car and shot at the robber as well as a pick-up he believed he was escaping with.

However, the truck belonged to the Alvarez family who was going out for pizza for Valentines Day, KTRK reported.

"I heard the bullets," Arlene's father Armando Alvarez said, according to the station. "First instinct was to speed up. As soon as I speed up, what are you doing? You're already coming next to him and going toward the guy shooting. So I guess when I sped up he thought I'm with that guy. He shot four or five times."

Armando said that he instructed his family to get down, but Arlene was unable to hear him due to having her headphones in and watching a video. Arlene was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The Houston Police identified the shooter as Tony D. Earls, 41. He has been charged with aggravated assault. On Tuesday afternoon, the authorities shared that Arlene had been pronounced dead.

This incident occurs just one week after another 9-year-old Houston girl was also shot in the head during an apparent road rage incident. Ashanti Grant was shot after her family is believed to have been caught in a race between two cars.

The driver of one of the vehicles shot at Ashanti's family's car, hitting her in the head. She received emergency surgery at the Texas Children's Hospital and is currently in a medically-induced coma. Her condition has improved somewhat according to her family.

Houston city officials are offering a $30,000 reward for information that leads to the identification of the suspected shooter, who was driving a white GMC Denali. According to reports, the driver is believed to have been a Hispanic man.

      This. This is just... heartbreaking.

People say they want guns to defend themselves. Sure. And this is the result. A 9 year old girl who has just lost her life. Two grieving parents. One man who now has to deal with the fact that he did this. He went from victim to murderer in a moment's time.

Limit guns to police, and let them take the risks involved in discharging a firearm. Or better yet - non lethal methods where possible.

      9 years old...

      Gun Rights? Get real.

I have often challenged the gun nuts on this thread to post every incident they can find of someone defending themselves with a gun and I will post just gun accidents. But none of them will take the challenge because they know there are far more accidents.

And here is where their deadly hypocrisy just glares like the sun. They claim to be "responsible gun owners." But the first rule of being a responsible gun owner is you can never be careless with a gun. Not once and not for a second. And they ignore carelessness to push the insane idea of guns everywhere
